New Tools for Police Accountability


This week, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx released a new tool for Cook County residents to hold police accountable for criminal misconduct. This new Police Criminal Misconduct Complaint Form allows residents to report criminal misconduct by police officers when it occurs in Cook County.


Criminal behavior by police includes:

  • Excessive force (battery, aggravated battery)

  • Intimidation

  • Making a false report 

  • Reckless driving 

  • Sexual misconduct 

  • Soliciting or accepting bribes

  • Burglary

  • Home Invasion 

  • Theft

  • Unlawful possession of narcotics

Foxx explained, “This tool will allow direct access to the State’s Attorney’s Office and offer an immediate resource as we work to increase accountability and equity in our justice system."
