Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways has secured $28 million in funding for a major roadway improvement project taking place on Lake Cook Road. In partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Lake County, and the villages of Buffalo Grove and Wheeling, Cook County DOTH will work to alleviate congestion and increase safety along with vital east-west roadway.
The project will widen the road, adding an additional lane in each direction and a dedicated turn lane at each intersection. Construction will take place on Lake Cook Rd from Raupp Blvd to Hastings Ln. Additional improvements will take place along Buffalo Grove Rd, McHenry Rd (IL Route 83), and Wieland Rd.
