Evictions Suspended Until June 1


Relief for Cook County residents is being extended with the continuation of the Illinois public health emergency.


Evictions have been suspended until June 1. The Cook County Circuit Court issued guidance affirming this extension, which you can read here.



The Illinois Commerce Commission has also extended its moratorium on utility shut-offs until June 1. This prevents gas, water, and electricity shutoffs for residents. Additional information on utility shut-offs can be found here.


Finally, the state's moratorium on car repossessions has been extended until June 1.
