Due to the pandemic, during July's Board Meeting the Board of Commissioners voted to change the property tax second installment deadline to October 1, 2021. This means that no interest penalties for any late payment of the Tax Year 2020 Second Installment will accrue until after October 1, 2021.
This continues efforts started last year in recognition of the adverse effects the global pandemic had on the residents of Cook County. At that time, the Board of Commissioners voted to extend deadlines for property taxes to give constituents a longer period of time to pay without penalty.
Second installment payments made on or before October 1, 2021, will be considered as filed and paid timely by the County.
