The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, along with the City of Rolling Meadows, is set to begin improvements of Algonquin Road and New Wilke Road intersection as part of a 2020 Invest in Cook award, supported by Commissioner Britton.
The project will address the preliminary and design engineering of the Algonquin Road and New Wilke Road intersection and will improve the last of three intersections at the southeastern edge of the Rolling Meadows community.
The configuration of pavement and traffic signals in this intersection will be improved, creating congestion relief. It will also connect Arlington Heights to the extensive trail network within the Busse Woods Forest Preserve, filling in what was once a gap in the County's bike path system.
