Ismaili Jamatkhana Glenview celebrated Eid al-Adha luncheon with faith leaders and Elected leaders

Several Faith leaders and several Elected Officials showed up at the celebrate Eid al-Adha luncheon at the Ismaili Jamatkhana Glenview on Sunday, August 25th, 2019.


Over 150 people, including state and city officials and people of diverse faiths and backgrounds attended the event and Luncheon, which also featured musical entertainment by youth. The event was held at the Jamatkhana Social Hall. Which was nicely decorated.

"We are celebrating our religious festival Eid Adha between people from different faiths and cultures," said Midwest Council Communications Coordinator Karim Ukani.


The Program was emceed by Sabin Juma. She welcomes all guests to the Ismaili Jamatkhana to celebrate Eid al-Adha and join luncheon. She also highlighted about the Ismaili Community. She also highlighted about Eid-ul-Adha ('festival of Sacrifice'), also known as the Greater Eid and is the second most important festival in the Muslim calendar.


The ceremony started with a recreation of holy Quran with followed by a welcome address by President of the Ismaili Council for the Midwest Imran Dhatwani.


Congressman Brad Schneider was the Keynote Speaker, during the speech, Congressman said, "Muslim including Ismaili Community play an important role in the USA. They are promoting diversity and pluralism.

All the guest toured in the building and participated in a discussion about Islam and the Ismaili believe.

Illinois State Senator Laura Fine, State Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz, Illinois State Senator Ram Villivalam, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen, Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton, and other officials also attended the event. Consul General of Pakistan, Chicago Mr. Javed Ahmed Umrani also attended the event with family.


Several types of food were served at the event. Most of the food was Indian, Pakistani and American. The program was very well organized, prestigious and enjoyed by the attendees and will be remembered for a long time.
