At the June meeting of the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Britton honored retiring Glenview Village President Jim Patterson with a Cook County Board Resolution thanking him for his dedication to the community. Jim served as village president for two terms before passing the baton to Mike Jenny.
During his tenure, Jim ensured village-wide projects were completed in an expeditious manner while benefitting residents, including the reconstruction of roads, the installation of sidewalks and water mains, and improvements to the downtown Metra train station. Jim guided Glenview residents through the COVID-19 pandemic, encouraging residents to remain “Glenview Strong." Also under Jim’s leadership, the Glenview Connect initiative was implemented, offering residents an opportunity to contribute their own ideas for village planning into the future.
Prior to his time as Village President, Jim served two terms as a Village Trustee from 2003 to 2011. During that time, Jim chaired the Milwaukee Avenue Corridor Committee and served on the Glen Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) Retirement Committee. He was also an active member of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Willow Road Community Advisory Group and the Glenview Plan Commission from 2000 to 2003.
Jim is an avid volunteer for the Glenview Centennial Commission, the Glenview Park Foundation Board, and Glenview's American Youth Soccer Organization since the late 1990s.
Jim is a graduate of the University of Tulsa. He and his wife, Sheri, have lived in Glenview since 1986 where they have raised their three children. We thank Jim for this service to the Village of Glenview, and wish him well in all his future endeavors!
