Funding Approved for Sanders Road DOTH Project

The Board of Commissioners approved $1 million toward the reconstruction of nearly two miles of Sanders Road from Milwaukee Avenue to Techny Road in the Village of Northbrook.

Currently, the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DOTH) has initiated the Sanders Road Phase I Study and is engaging with the community to solicit feedback. As it currently exists, Sanders Road is two lanes in each direction with a center two-way left-turn lane.

The Phase I study will evaluate improving Sanders Road from Milwaukee Avenue to Techny Road, focusing on the improvement of safety, mobility and access, pavement condition, and pedestrian and bicycle accommodations. The study will examine the proposal which includes pavement rehabilitation, resurfacing or reconstruction, minor alignment of Sanders Road into Milwaukee Avenue, and drainage infrastructure upgrades. The study will also evaluate the addition of sidewalks and the addition of a traffic signal at Winkleman Road.

If you have ideas or concerns about the Sanders Road improvement project, please do not hesitate to reach out to tell us your thoughts!
