Cook County Board Commissioner Scott Britton announced that low-cost rabies vaccines for certain pets will be available from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at a mobile unit visiting the Jewel-Osco parking lot at 45 S. Plum Grove Road in Palatine. Dog, cat and ferret owners can take advantage of the rabies vaccines. Britton said a one-year rabies shot will be $7 for dogs and cats, with a three-year vaccine going for $21. Ferret vaccines will be $9.
