Tipped Minimum Wage Increase

As of January 1, 2022, the tipped minimum wage has increased to $7.20 as dictated by the Minimum Wage Ordinance.

The new wage applies to anyone who has worked at least two hours in any two-week period for an employer who maintains their place of business in Cook County or is issued a business license by Cook County. In municipalities that have passed their own minimum wage, those wages supersede the County's Minimum Wage Ordinance.

If you believe your employer has not appropriately abided by the page scale set forth in the Minimum Wage Ordinance, you can begin the complaint process with a Human Rights Investigator. To get started, visit www.cookcountyil.gov/MWO.
