On May 14, Commissioner Britton was proud to honor Glenbrook North High School's Ryan Purdy with a Cook County Resolution honoring his swimming achievements. Ryan is only the second state champion in Glenbrook North's history for boys swimming and diving.

RESOLUTION HONORING GLENBROOK NORTH HIGHSCHOOL STUDENT RYAN PURDY ON HIS CONTRIBUTION TO HIS CONTINUED SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS
WHEREAS, Ryan Purdy began swimming competitively at the age of five years old; and
WHEREAS, Ryan has been a member of the Glenbrook North High School Swimming and Diving team for four years; and
WHEREAS, as a Sophomore, Ryan set his School Record in the 500 Freestyle; and
WHEREAS, as a Junior, Ryan set school records for the 200 Medley Relay, 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke and 400 Freestyle Relay; and
WHEREAS, as a Senior, Ryan was honored with the Most Valuable Swimmer Team Award; and
WHEREAS, Ryan competed in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Final Championships where he became only the second state champion in Glenbrook North High School history for boys swimming and diving; and
WHEREAS, Ryan became the first ever double individual event IHSA State Champion; and
WHEREAS, Ryan won the 200 Individual Medley at the 2019 IHSA State Meet in 1 minute, 49.45 seconds and the 100 Backstroke at the State Meet in 49.21 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Ryan broke three individual school records at IHSA State Meet and was part of a fourth when he was a member of the 6th place 200 Medley Relay team; and
WHEREAS, Ryan leaves the Glenbrook North Swimming and Diving program with four individual school records and two relay records; and
WHEREAS, Ryan is the first-ever men’s multiple event IHSA State Champion in Glenbrook North’s School history; and
WHEREAS, Ryan has been Swim Instructor for four years for Swim America; and
WHEREAS, Ryan has been coached by Head Coach Jarod Schroeder; and
WHEREAS, Ryan will attend University of Iowa on a Swimming Scholarship 2019 where he plans to major in Physical Therapy; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Cook County Board of Commissioners honors and congratulates Ryan Purdy on his continued sports achievements; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the text of this resolution be spread across the journal of proceedings of this honorable body and that a suitable copy hereof be presented to Ryan Purdy and his family in commemoration of his great achievements.
