Located in Glenview, Illinois, the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) is an intergovernmental agency comprised of municipalities, fire protection districts, and other organizations located in the Chicago metropolitan area that have partnered to create a regional, state-of-the-art safety training facility.
NIPSTA boasts both indoor and outdoor buildings and props to create a specialized training environment for first responders.
Launched in 2001, NIPSTA's $29 million initiative was created by a partnership of 17 Founding Members including the Villages of Glencoe, Glenview, Highland Park, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka, and the North Maine Fires Protection District. The Village of Northfield is now also an active NIPSTA participant.
All members are bound by an Intergovernmental Agreement that sets forth the obligations and responsibilities of the members. Members of the NIPSTA Board of Directors share a commitment to regional cooperation and economic efficiency.
