The first round of grants for the Cook County Complete Count Census have been awarded. Of the 79 applications received by the October 3 deadline, 48% were from the suburban regions of Cook County. These grant dollars are paramount in assuring that hard-to-count communities are reached. This involves leveraging the assistance of local municipalities as well as community-based organizations.
In the 14th District, three municipalities received funding during round 1 including Rolling Meadows, Prospect Heights and Mt Prospect. The City of Rolling Meadows received $25,000 in grants, Prospect Heights received $21,800 and the Village of Mt Prospect received $25,000.
A second round of grant applications are due Wednesday, January 1, followed by a third round of application due on Wednesday, April 1.
