On June 18, the Board of Commissioners passed a measure allowing businesses in unincorporated Cook County that hold a liquor license to apply for a “temporary beer garden license.” This license will allow for service outdoors in compliance with phase three of the state’s reopening plan.
The fee for the temporary beer garden license will be $300 and will be effective until December 31, 2020. Temporary beer garden license applicants do not have to meet notice requirements that exist for regular beer garden licenses. However, they must still receive approval from the Cook County Department of Building and Zoning as well as the Cook County Department of Public Health.
Questions related to applying for a temporary beer garden license can be directed to the Cook County Liquor Commission.
